Our first stop today was the Prada Marfa exhibit.  This is actually not in Marfa -- or in any town for that matter.  It is a couple of miles due west of Valentine, Texas, which is about 20 miles west of Marfa!  It is just a lonely box front on the highway.  It's not a store, just an art exhibit.  It is fully sealed -- houses Prada purses and women's shoes (only of shoe from the pair -- people were purportedly stealing them when they were shown in pairs!).  A...

Hey everybody! today we are in Marfa, Texas. I had a lot of fun exploring the small town. I got to get the next book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians seires- The Sea of Monsters. I have already finished it. We also got to eat at this pizza place called Pizza Foundation. At night in Marfa you can look out at the desert and see the famous Marfa Lights-mysterious lights the might come from aleins. I got to go on top of the courthouse, and when we looked out, there ...

We left Dallas and flew an hour to Midland airport, rented a car and drove 165 miles through West Texas' scrub brush, oil wells, a few head of cattle and vast miles of nothingness; to finally arrive at the last hotel with a vacant room, booked months ago in Alpine. Things are a little different in this part of the world. For instance all the guest names written in heavy black ink on large envelopes, were taped to the front door! The guest was expected to pull the envelope and check in. All th...
