An Oasis in Hotan Aug 30, 2012

As per LP this very English café does have a menu in English and the two ladies who serve also speak fantastic English. Only draw back is they don’t sell cold drinks as we know it, no coke, sprite, fanta or Pepsi (not even the Chinese equivalent). The Singapore Chicken Curry was delicious, although we could have done without the Chips (French fries) nice as they were it was a decent sized meal for around 59rb for the two meals(same) and an expensive coffee, and water was free(local I think). It wasn’t too bad, but not as cheap as street food obviously. The staff were very friendly and helpful about what time to go to the Bazaar (12.00pm on a Sunday) and how expensive the desert experience was (2000rb for two people for one night) if you were to try and book it through the guy in their info book. They even gave us a card with the three main things tourists want to visit (Imam Asim Tomb, The Silk workshop & Carpet Factory) all in Chinese for you to negotiate a Taxi driver to take you around. We promised to take it back when we finished. They also gave us advice on how much we should pay. All very useful stuff. So a highly recommended. You will find this café a haven in the melee of what is Hotan.
