Marco Polo International Airport Venezia Dec 09, 2009
For me, marco polo international airport is the most beautiful name given to any airports in the world - why?! Because the name corresponds to perhaps the most famous traveler of all time - marco polo from venezia.
the airport is located in the small city/town of tessera just outside of venice and for 2.50 euros - a bus directly from the airport will bring you to piazzale roma, the bus stations in the island of venice.
despite that the airport is the 3rd busiest in italy, it is not huge, once you get in, the check-in counters of different airlines are already there and the security check-in too.
there are many food stalls/restaurants/bars/sandwhich stalls to choose from and surprisingly, for me - of all the european airports i had been to - it is quite fairly cheap.
lots of designer shops are in the airport including a ferrari store, a lonely computer for internet use and my most needed - a smoking lounge! But the best about this airport is that the landscape that surrounds it! On a very clear day - you can see the alps from the distance! And the beautiful city of venice itself!
the airport is not hustle and bustle like many airports i had been to, in fact, it made marco polo international airport my 2nd favorite airport of all!
