Marathon is a town of 600 persons in West Texas, situated on US 90. It is about 40 miles north of Big Bend National Park. Marathon is part of the high desert country of the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, so has a warm dry climate with clear skies that make star gazing a very popular pastime in this area.
Marathon is the home of the historic Gage Hotel, probably the major drawing card for the town. It is also becoming a thriving art locale as more artists and galleries are drawn to this part of Texas.
