The gem of Malindi, in my humble opinion! Apr 18, 2007
This place is magical at sunset.. the way the light hits the rocks and changes colours as the sun goes down. A gorge caused by years of erosion of sandstone, it is known by the locals as 'Nyari' meaning 'The place broken by itself'. There is a village right next door, and you will have to pay a very small fee for a guide to take you around, who tells you all about the folklore and natural history. Not only is Hell's Kitchen an amazing place to see (and pretty damn hot despite the sun leaving the sky!), but the view over it into to the jungle beyond to see the sunset is breathtaking. And shortly after the sun sets, out come more stars than you've probably ever seen in your life!! We also bought some excercise books to give to the kids in the local village on the way home!
