Mapusa is well known all over Goa for its weekly bazaar. Friday is the weekly market day in Mapusa. It is one of the best planned bazaars of Goa. The shops are well arranged. One can buy things without wasting much time as one finds cloth, jewellry, utensils, groceries and pottery all in one place. Vendors of flowers, fruits and vegetables happily call out their wares. A variety of fish is sold in a large shed.
People from different parts of Goa come to sell their goods. Local agricultural products like rice, beans, coconuts, ragi, jiggery, vegetables and fruits are sold. In summer people buy dry chilies, rice, salt and dry fish to store for the monsoon.
The Friday market is busy and crowded. It is colorful and attractive. It is a meeting place for many people. Friday market is a tourist destination and lots of tourists are seen in Mapusa on Friday for the best bargains. Tourist shop for silver ornaments, clothes, silk garments, Spices, antiques… etc and some good pictures.
The main Mapusa bus stand is well networked and connects to all major cities and beaches in Goa.
