Mansion On Forsyth Park Hotel Savannah (Georgia) Reviews
'A great property' Aug 08, 2009
We stayed a night for a short weekend getaway. The hotel embraces you as you walk in, great service is natural as you get to get lost in the ambiance of the hotel.
The room was great. Very clean, decor was unique, and some plus items not to forget. A definite MUST STAY if you are in Savannah!
our room.....bathroom open to be…

Mansion on Forsyth Park Jul 24, 2009
Our children get their first exposure to travel on their 13th birthday – they choose the destination for a long weekend that is within a five hour car drive from home. Both of the boys got to choose while we lived in Maine and their choices were Bar Harbor and Montreal, but now we are in the South and Spencer chose Savannah, Georgia.
They also have responsibility for the agenda during the outing, and Spencer wanted a spa treatment, so we opted to stay at the Mansion on Forsyth Park, a Victorian manor located in Savannah’s Historic District. No doubt this an opulent hotel for most folks, but we found it to be too frou frou (despite getting a relatively cheap price for our room). We knew very little about Savannah and were delighted to learn it was home to the Savannah College of Art Design (SCAD!) and discover that a lot of buildings in the Historic District were inhabited by its artistic minions. Alas, this seemed to insist that every square inch of wall space in the city was adorned with framed pictures…many that weren’t so attractive. Several hundred of these frightening works plastered the hallways of the Mansion on Forsyth and it was scary getting to your room. We hoped to escape the horror show by ducking into our room, only to find a horrid chopped up baby doll picture hovering over our beds! Despite this catastrophe, I will say that the pool (with a very cool water wall at one end) was beautiful and the concierge was exceedingly helpful. The staff was also accommodating, though I didn’t find it comforting the way the bellhops scrambled to be sure they opened the front doors for us every time we trooped in or out of the hotel. I highly commend the beds, which were fantastically comfortable! Though pricey, we found the on site Poseidon Spa to be a delight. Spencer treasured her massage there! There is an adjacent restaurant/cooking school (700 Kitchen) that Kim and I popped into the first night for a drink, but found it way over priced and too hoity toity for our liking and never returned to dine. If you have a fat wallet, however, I’m sure you can get a tasty meal there. It wasn’t an awful experience, just not our cuppa tea. We can recommend its location right across the street from Forsyth Park, which was beautiful, but despite touting that it is in the Historic District, it is actually quite a hike from the hotel to get to where the action is. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you like to walk because we were enamored of all the delightful squares you cross over while rambling about Savannah. But don’t think you abut any attractions of Historic Savannah – you will have to walk a bit to get to reach any interesting destination. |

One lovely experience Jun 18, 2007
The room was beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The only negative thing I can say about our stay there is that the bathroom was totally open, absolutely no privacy. For those of us who are "prudes" (smile), that was a bit uncomforta...read entire review at TravelPost.com
