Manoa Falls Sep 05, 2010
Manoa Falls is a beautiful waterfall in Hawaii. Water pours over the edge into a small pool at the bottom. The falls are about 150 feet high. The hike takes you to the bottom of the falls.

It isn't too far from Waikiki. You just follow Manoa road which dead ends at the beginning of the trail. There is a large parking lot at the beginning of the hike, parking is $5 and hiking to the falls is free.

The hike is fairly easy, but in some spots muddy and slippery, I would recommend wearing good walking shoes. Also wear bug repellent, we came back with several mosquito bites.

There are no facilities during the hike to buy water, so I would bring your own. They warn you not to drink any stream water. The guy who was selling the parking tickets was also selling bottled water at the parking lot. He wasn't there when we were done with the hike, so I would recommend buying before the hike.

There aren't many waterfalls in Waikiki but if you venture into the Manoa Valley you will be able to see Manoa Falls. This is a great little falls to visit. The hike up to the falls is easy and surrounded by lush, green foliage. It rains a lot so it is usually a little muddy but it stays nice and cool. If you want, it is great to pack a picnic lunch and then hike up and eat by the waterfall. There is a pool at the bottom that is deep enough to swim in if it has been raining. Otherwise you could sit in the pool and cool off after the hike. Not a lot of tourists find this place so it is never crowded. There is a parking lot at the bottom if you choose to drive but be careful about leaving valuables. It has been prone to theft in the past. Parking costs $5.00 but the hike if free if you choose to walk.

Manoa Falls Hike Jul 25, 2003
Manoa Falls is a nature hike on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. At the end of the hike is a small waterfall and pool, which you are free to swim in. The hike is a little long, but not hard. The only problem I had was the humidity (you are hiking through a jungle-like area). Due to this, I had to stop a few times along the hike, but it was never a problem. There are many rocks to rest on. Most of the hike is farely flat, so you don't have to worry about walking upwards too much. The waterfall at the end is pretty small, as is the pool it empties to. You can swim in it, but you need to be aware of falling rocks. I didn't see any, but it does happen. Be sure to wear good shoes, a swimsuit, and bring water.
