Amazon Magic with Maniti Camp Expeditions Sep 30, 2012
Hello ,

Myself and a buddy traveled just returned from a 12D/11N adventure tour with Maniti Camp Expeditions. We went into the Pacaya Samiria Reserve (a RAMSAR site and the largest government protected area in the floodable Amazon rainforest in South America) with Maniti Expeditions for 7D/6N and the remainder of the time was spent at their beautiful eco-lodge.

There are not lodges in the reserve so you will be sleeping in tents if you decide to visit the reserve be prepared to camp. The trip is a bit rough but it’s well worth it, a ton of wildlife (dolphins, snakes, exotic birds, butterflies, monkeys, etc).

At the lodge we saw all kinds of wildlife; snakes, monkeys, exotic birds, dolphins, butterflies. The lodge took about 3 hours via boat to get to, it was pretty deep in the jungle. Food was excellent. All of the staff was very pleasant, guides were very knowledgeable and fun to be with.

Before we booked with them we did a bit or research on the company, they are fully registered with iPeru (the official tourism board in Peru) and they get great reviews on TripAdvisor. I highly recommend them to anybody who wants to really experience the jungle!!

We also spent 3 days in the city of Iquitos but I wish we would have just stayed in the jungle, you need only 1 full day in Iquitos really, there is not a whole lot to do there. Although, if you have some time, you could perform day trips by yourself.
