Folklore says Guimaras was named after the impetuous Aras, who defied tradition for their romance. Rejecting the betrothal by her father to another noble son, they escaped by a small raft but they disappeared in the raging sea. From then on, whenever strong winds churned the seas, people seemed to hear the lover's names shouted by her repentant father, thus, the name Guimaras.
Guimaras can be reached by air and boat from Manila and other origin, via Iloilo City.

My two week stay started strangely enough coz' of the 1 hour swine flu inspection @ Narita Airport,
Tokyo. This was something right out of a sci-fi movie, hazmat rubber suits & gloves armed with a thermal imaging camera w/c displays a persons heat signature.
After that i stayed @ Trader Hotel in Manila. note: if u need to go anywhere around manila, do it before rush hour!! Traders' is a bit on the pricey side but well located, i found it to clean and updated, nice coffee shop round the corner

Philippines -› Bengaluru, India -› …
My initial plans were to backpack in Philippines for some 3-4 weeks before going to Indonesia. Well the trip did not start very well, i dropped my camera in Singapore while in transit on the way to Manila and it never started. Then after 10 days in Philippines needed to get back to office. But still for the 10 days I was there, made the most of it, enjoyed in Coron, El Nido, Sabang, Puerto Princesca.

Asia is my favourite region to travel. Why...? Because of my roots, the people, the culture, the delicious food and in most of the Asian countries everything is so cheap. So, Philippines was also one of the destinations. I took domestic flights to Cebu, Bohol, Boracay and Palawan. I made a cruise from Puerto Princessa to Coron. In Boracay I passed for my Padi Open Water Dive license in just 1,5 day...:) Be my guest and take a peek of the pics...

I haven't been back to the Philippines since I was 18. So I needed to pack 6 years of memories and times lost in a 3 week trip. Though the weather is supposed to be dry in December I encountered more rain than I would have liked.
