When traveling from Manhattan to Brooklyn, Manhattan Bridge area, on the Metro be aware of the late night G train. I have spend over an hour waiting for it, after 12am, and other nights it has come right away. Instead of the G the other option is the old reliable A/C train, but beware of the A. C being the local, every stop, A is the express. Sometimes during the day the A will skip stops it was supposed to make, I have had to deal with this experience, not fun or pretty. I always get on the C now and have forgotten the G exists. Also be aware of the L train from Manhattan to Williamsburg, a Brooklyn hot spot. Friends of mine live near the L and have waited for long periods of time for it to come, after 11pm, while other nights it has come right away, similar to the G train. The problem with the L train is that if you don't want to wait for it there aren't many other options except to get a taxi. If you are hanging out close to the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan and need to get to the Williamsburg area, or visa versa, a taxi cab ride may cost about $15.00 maybe more or less depending on the route the driver takes. If you are sharing the taxi with friends you can split the cost and call it a night! You can also use Hopstop.com to find your way around in NY on the metro, it's very useful.
