Which Is Witch?!? Aug 03, 2008
In case you're wondering if there's a typo on the name of this hostel, the answer is no. There really is DUNG in there, because this place is shit! Well, not really the place, but the witch managing it.
According to Lonely Planet, this place is owned and run by a very eccentric and welcoming family who will make you feel at home. My ass. Instead of a welcominhg family, there's Thom the Witch and her Assistant the Bitch. Thom, who will punch random numbers on her calculator whenever you ask for a dollar-dong conversion, or how much something is.
Meanwhile, Assistant will make face if you interrupt her sleep when you ring the doorbell after a night out in the city (they close the door at 12 noon, what the eff?). It's your job, bitch! Okay, that's a bit harsh... It's your job, bi-otch! :D
Apparently, honesty and integrity is not part of Thom's vocabulary. And we've seen a lot of guests complaining about things (especially hidden charges that will put credit card companies to shame). She quotes a price and charges another. And when you start questioning, she'll do her damn best to ignore/dismiss you in her Hanoi-ying Viet-glish. Pretty soon, you'd be so Hanoi-yed that you'd start yelling at her (like what a lady did after she kept on changing the topic for 30 minutes).
Oh wait, the rooms, yes. Well, they're pretty clean. Two beds, a mini-bar, small-ish TV with poor signal, useless balcony with a very tricky lock, and a teeny-tiny bathroom where you'd need to lift the sink for you to completely open the door to get in/out. We paid USD20 for an air-con room, but Thom wanted to charge us extra for using the air-con. What a joke.
So, if Thom tells you that you're pretty/handsome, don't be fooled. Marketing strategy, I'm telling you! She told that to my friend Hanie, but whatever! Besides, you already know you're good-looking, right? ;D
So, consider this as a friendly advice - stay away! If you don't value your money, at least value your sanity!
