Get What You Pay For Oct 20, 2010
The Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key in Miami is a high end hotel that really focuses on customer service. It is a luxury property with well-appointed rooms, a spa, restaurants/bar, pool and beach area. Here, you get what you pay for - really good service.

The location was perfect for our needs, situated between the Grove and Miami Beach, Brickell just over the causeway and Brickell Ave. a short 5-8 drive. Also, it's close to Calle 8 and 7th St. It's not 'touristy' and is removed enough from the nightlife spots that relaxation is easy. (Note: I think a rental car or vehicle is a good idea when staying here.) The property sits on Brickell Key and is surrounded by residential properties (condos) - not the tourist hub of South Beach, Miami Beach or even the Grove. We enjoyed the relative quietness. There is a foot/bike path that winds around the property and runs along the water front which is very popular for locals and hotel guests. (To access the beach area, you must cross this path.) The park next to the hotel is a nice greenspace.

From the moment you enter, the staff is waiting on you, catering to your needs. Thirsty? How about a water, or maybe an iced tea? Check-in was easy. Luggae was taken to our room and the bellhop explained all we needed to know about our room's ammenities. The room is modern, not outdated, and very comfortable. Enjoyed the king sized bed and balcony overlooking the water. The bathroom and room are connected by a large 'window' with a privacy blind. Everything seemed very clean.

They offer a lot of services, some we were not able to fully utilize due to our schedule. The fitness room/gym is well maintained and has all one needs to get in a good workout or cardio session. Loved the fresh fruit offered - the pears tasted great after a good workout. Did not have time to use the spa services, but they were very appealing. Also, did not have time to lounge on the 'beach', but it too looked really inviting - clean and well maintained. The staff around the pool is very attentive and it's a great area to spend an afternoon (or day). We were also not able to check out the restaurants on the property, but they did stay pretty busy. We used the valet service and it was usually pretty prompt - no complaints.

The Mandarin Oriental Miami is a wonderful place to call 'home' while on vacation. We wanted to spend more time relaxing at the hotel during our stay than what we were able. Don't think I will ever want to stay in another location while in Miami - had a great stay!

Was working with my cousin in Miami. I stayed here for 2 nights. Its just across the bridge on Brickell Island. Its a 10-15 min drive to SoBe from here.

You really get what you pay for here. Room was excellent and had a great view of the city of Miami.

Staff were polite and helpful with directions and recommending places to go.

I forgot to give the valet parking guy my car keys. I think it automatically shutdown and caused a bit of a problem in the parking area :) They were pretty nice about it and kindly asked me to provide the keys.

Guests were mostly families and business ppl.

The pool area was always filled with kids. Didn't see a hot tub, but I'm sure they had one. They have a gym and spa area. Also have a small made up beach area facing the city of Miami.

I would recommend staying here if your on a business trip. If your single on vacation. I would recommend staying somewhere closer to SoBe.

lol .. it only has a button to start the car. So the keys were in my pocket and the car was on.
Its was funny when they came to me saying the car shutdown in the parking area :D.
Probably caused a traffic jam in their lot, as they were pretty busy that day.

I love this hotel. I got a tour to see the main suites there. They have excellet views and is in a great location. You must get up early though to get breakfast here. Order the Eggs Benedict and a fruit smoothie. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The staff/servers are extremely nice and down to earth as well. Two thumbs up.

They are building a Mandarin Oriental Hotel here in Las Vegas at CityCenter. CityCenter is the worlds largest construction project going on right now. We just got done putting a bid in on Mandarin but it won't be opened until later this year or next. Another reason to come back to Vegas...
