Mandarin Oriental Hotel Makati Feb 05, 2011
A nice and one of the high end hotels at the heart of Manila's financial district in Makati City.

The hotel is just a walking distance from shopping malls, restaurants and night life along Makati Avenue.

It's quite expensive but I would say it's worth your money as well. The staff were mostly very accommodating and service was good.

I highly recommend this hotel if you have enough budget and if you love to explore Makati's nightlife.

Mandarin Oriental Dec 03, 2008
My experience of stay in this hotel was a lousy one. I find it difficult to understand why I didn't get a good service knowing that Mandarin Oriental is a 5-star hotel. There was a strange subjective feeling I had that I was treated differently for being a 'local'. It might sound too strong, but one thing was sure, I was not just imagining things. Afterall, it is my beloved hometown. I would hate to feel unwelcome.

For some strange reasons, it took a little time for me to check-in.

When I got in the room, i noticed it was tidy, just ordinary, nothing special really. But I found that the paintings hanging on the wall was dusty, like the room was cleaned in a rush. Then there was a problem with the TV reception. At that point, the only nice thing I could see was the view of Makati skyline. That helps a bit.

The location of the hotel was not really strategic to say the least. I had to hail a cab everytime I would go to interconnecting malls nearby.

I told myself I will not stay there anymore. Just one bad experience is enough for me.

On second thoughts and in all fairness, maybe it was just me. You know, when bad things happen to good people (haha!). Or it could also be one bad luck in a thousand.

Tired Luxurious Hotel but great service Jan 25, 2006
Went to Manila with a friend on recruitment trip. Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental, prefered staying at the Shangri-La however we couldnt get a room due to Chinese New Year. So instead, we got a great price at the Mandarin. We had a limosine pick up - something we did not expect. The welcome at the reception was great, names were used as oppose to just Sir or Madam. Although the hotel is old, and not really a wow factor but the smille of the staff is everywhere, very warm and helpful. Location of the hotel is ideal for shopping and bar hoppings, its in the centre of the business and entertainment places. Whats amazing was the they even fill up your disembarkation card already when you check out! Wow! Didnt regret staying there. Although the price is expensive for a traveller but the price is right for the commitment they give.
