Manbo Holiday Hotel Hualien Reviews
Good Budget Hotel Feb 09, 2015
We choose this hotel as it is close to train station in Hualien and we can walk directly from the station without the need to take taxi and save money on taxi fee.
Unfortunately the street in Hualien is a bit difficult to navigate as the street number jump from one to another. We were lucky meet a woman on the street and she showed us the location of the hotel. Once we find it, it was easy to navigate around the city, to and from train station.
The hotel building looks decent with spacious lobby. The reception very friendly and helpful even though they do not speak much English. We managed to booked Taroko National park tour with the hotel for the next day, and the tour was good and very cheap – and it was a whole day tour from 9.00am to 5.30pm, even though the tour itinerary show on paper only for half a day tour.
I actually emphasis each sights we would like to see to the reception in my broken Chinese and she said yes to all, so we were happy with it and booked the tour even though it only said half a day and we get more than we bargain for. The minibus pick us up directly from the hotel and deliver back to the hotel – however we asked to be drop off at the train station after finished tour.
Our room located at the sixth floor and for some strange reason, there were no fourth floor at the building, instead it change from third floor directly to fifth floor. The elevator was okay, not the fastest but work well.
The room itself quite compact, around 15 sqm with small window facing the other building. It has one double bed, dresser and small wooden chair underneath it, refrigerator, hairdryer, flat screen television and a small tall boy next to the dresser. It has plenty of drawers to put my stuff inside. The shower was small and basic so when we have shower, the whole floor get wet. However it has a big shower head which is quite nice and different.
There was an air condition and heater, unfortunately we do not how to use it as it was written in Chinese language and we tried to turn it on, and it gets quite cold in the room at night time, so we turn it off, but still cold in the room. We were lazy to ask how it worked. Ended up I get a bit flu because of this – too cold in the room.
It was very quiet at night time and not much traffic noise. The hotel also provide mineral water bottle at the hall way near elevator so we can fill in our water bottles.
The room cost usd44 per night for two people including breakfast. Breakfast serve at the basement of the hotel and it was very local Chinese breakfast but interesting, from porridge, noodles to rice, vegetables, meat and many different condiments.
