Cool off in a Massive Cave! Jan 10, 2012
A half an hour drive from Margaret River, along Caves Rd, you will come to Mammoth Cave just off the side of the road. Make sure to go early in the day due to the fact they only have parking for maybe 30 cars and the cave gets busy. If your taking a tour bus even better.

You get to the front gate and decide if you want to see the Jewel Cave and Augusta Lighthouse for (ultimate pass) for $60, Mammoth+Jewel Caves for (grande tour) $48 or just Mammoth for $22. To do the ultimate pass it will get you a full days worth of touring. From Busselton to Mammoth-Jewel-Lighthouse and back is 3.5 hrs of straight driving.

I found the price to be rather expensive considering the length of time it takes to do each cave and the lighthouse. Each exhibit takes about 20 mins so your basically spending a dollar per minute for the particular activity.

Overall, its a thing to do. This along with the Margaret River Wine tour was an amazing two days of rest, relaxation and adventure.

Western Australia is home to some of the oldest caverns known in the world. If you like caves, or even if you don't, these two are awesome. Check before you go, they are not always open in off peak season. There is even a small museum that educates about caves, their discovery and importance.

Some adventure companies do tours of the public and non-pubic caves. I would recommend it. Have you ever crawled through the "birthing tunnel" or sat in a cave with the light off. You aren't likely to forget it any time soon.
