Mammoth Cave National Park - a place of abundant natural beauty Jan 10, 2011
A place of abundant natural beauty, culture, history & a lot to discover. For couples, groups and of course families. If you are into discovering caves, canoeing, camping, fishing, swimming or just exploring is your place and you will love it!

With over 390 miles (630 km) of passageways it is by far the world's longest known cave system! It is centered around the Green River, with a tributary, the Nolin River, feeding into the Green just inside the park.

We visited one of this awesome cave tours the National Park Service offers to visitors. I can highly recommend it.

if you like caves Dec 19, 2010
If you're a cave person you should definitely check out Mammoth Cave. If you aren't sure if you're a "cave person" or not, check it out anyway, and you'll find out! At just over 400 miles, Mammoth Cave is the longest cave system in the world. Plus they have a tour for every taste. If you want to spend long days exploring, and camp out at night, you can. Or if you're like me, and just want to get the highlights and get the hell out, they have that too. I don't enjoy closed in spaces so I didn't really care for Mammoth Cave, but I know other people that love it. I guess it's all about what you're in to...

Great Place Jun 15, 2010
My husband's family lives 15 minutes from here. He never ever pays attention to this place when he comes home to visit but his stepfather suggested that he should take me to the caves.

We all went as a family and it was a wonderful trip. Make sure you dress warm. It's 50 degrees in the cave!

Know before you go Mar 26, 2008
Before you go to Mammoth Cave, please go to the National Parks website to purchase your tickets and decide on which cave tour you want to take. During the summer months, it may be impossible for you to purchase tickets at the site since they are so crowded. The cave tours vary in distance (miles) and length (hours of tour). Do not go by the hours. Look at the distance of the tour, how many steps there are, because the deeper into the cave you go, the more steps you will have to take down and coming out. It is well worth the money. Also, there are several other caves to visit in the area which may need a whole other day to enjoy.
