Malbork is a town in northern Poland in the Żuławy region, with 41,000 inhabitants (2001). Situated in the Pomeranian Voivodeship since 1999, it was previously assigned to Elbląg Voivodeship (1975-1998). It is the capital of Malbork County.Founded in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights, Malbork is noted for its Gothic castle, one of the most striking in Europe.

18th - 22nd July 2007 - The Siege of MalborkLast time I saw The Seige of Malbork was 6 years ago. It lasted 3 days over the weekend and was a great fun for locals mostly. I was amazed to see what this one grew to become.It is now described as a meeting with knights, craftsmen and traders from around the world. And it trully is. Castle in Malbork

This castle is certainly one of the biggest gothic castles remaining in the world. It was founded in 1274 on the east bank of the river Nogat by the Teutonic Knights. It was built from red brick,  on a flat surface of ca. 8000 with the smaller Middle Castle inside and still smaller High Castle built on a hill, on a rectangle surface of 60x80m. We went to see Malbork castle today. Certainly it's pretty big and awesome. Sad that we decided not to go inside but after getting to know that people aren't allowed inside on their own and the price and the time of the guided tour we decided not to go. And as one of us somewhy seems to hate museum tours and two of us don't speak English I was left alone and we just had a walk around the castle.It's funny that there are so many parking spaces avaliable.
