I’ll be going back to Malawi in the end of this year and I’m already really excited about it. My friend who is leading one school, asked me if I could lead a team to Malawi and after few days I said yes. It’s so exciting to take a team with me and show them how life looks in Malawi. It’s li…

Arriving Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi
posted by:
Sep 08, 2009 – Sep 18, 2009
We landed early in Nairobi, before sunrise, so it was not much to see. Only two hours to my next flight to Lilongwe, Malawi. As we went through the gate my seat was changed and this time NOT for the better. I was looking forward to my A seat, so I could get a good view of Mt Kilimanjaro. But that w…

Amazing African adventure By Carol Driver   Admittedly, Malawi is perhaps not the most obviously destination if you are looking for two weeks’ sunbathing by a pool and clubbing the night away.   This former British colony has long been overlooked by holidaymakers, but thank…

Malawi, the warm heart of Africa : Lilongwe Travel Photos

Jul 04, 2008 – Jul 12, 2008
In Malawi they call themselves as "the warm heart of Africa". I would say that this feeling is all around the country. Malawi was the first part of our plan of visiting Africa. Mozambique would be the second one (I´ll create a new blog for it). Lilongwe -the capital city-, Liwonde National Park, and Cape Maclear were the only three points in Malawi we could spend a few days in. 10 days in total, enough to have a taste of a beautiful country full of beautiful people.

Chididi

From Nsanje we hiked up the mountain to the area of Chididi.  They aren't joking when they call it a mountain, and when it comes to journeying back down the mountain we're amazed at some of the slopes we made it up.  About a third of the way up I had a horrible asthma attack - which …

During the summer of 2003 I went to Malawi, Africa for about a month. I spent most of my time working with Save Orphans Ministries (SOM)...tearing down old houses to reuse the bricks, helping out with VBS, and just getting to know the people there. At the end of the trip we had a couple days to relax (we got to go on a safari).

Into Malawi

Woke up at the luxurious hour of 8:15am. Flopped around and read my book until 10am when we went on a village walk (K500), led by Robert. First off we saw drying cassava which is a Malawian staple but unfortunately smelt like a combo of strong cheese and off meat. It was pure white and had a chalky…

Malawi was awesome.  We stayed 2 nights at Chitumba and then three nights at Kande beach both on lake malawi. It is a fresh water lake and absoutely huge with a sandy beach, it is hard to believe it isn't the ocean! So that was pretty much 5 days of doing not much apart from lying in a hammo…

I did a side trip and went to the serengetti and Ngorongoro crater. then went through Malawi, Mozambique, & Zimbabwe.
