Another social activity trip, July 2006, we went to Batu Malang, East Java. We stayed at Purnama Hotel, Batu, a quiet and beautiful place at the hill, with a mountain view. Then we went to Tlekung Village to help the local people do the piping as summer got too long and the village had a water shortage.

Finally, visiting the land where I was born.... Finding the roots in Pekalongan and getting to know the people & a way of living. Discovering treasures I never thought I would find. Now I can say; Though I've had a Western upbringing, I'll always be Indonesian.

I joined a group of geologists to explore the vulcanos on Bali and Java. Between this serious work I enjoyed the beautiful country of Indonesia. First we had a group of 8 people, later on 3 girls joint us and we did the rest of the tour with 11 people. One of my last days on Java, I really felt the earth moving. It WAS a minor earthquake.

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.
