Mal Pais Vacation Guide
Mal Pais lies at the southeastern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in Puntarenas province. Although it is a small village and there are very little tourist attractions or services, hotels and dining options range from top notch to rustic though scenic beachfront views.
Mal Pais may be a very small town but it still has much to offer. It is considered a surfers paradise, providing consistent waves that are good for the beginner or the expert. A jungle follows the curvature of the beach and hammocks, provided by the bungalow hotels, are strung up between the palm trees. Mal Pais is also great for bird watchers as well as fishers.
Weather is great year round and the beach is usually uncrowded.
You can get there by car/taxi or by ferry, which is quite a lovely boat ride itself.
