Maki of Japan Philadelphia Reviews
Sushi from Shanghai Feb 01, 2009
I had to select a low number of stars for this one, sadly. After having walked every terminal in the Phila Airport, I was thrilled to find a place that serves Udon Soup -- a staple travel food for me ever since having food poisoning in LA, I've been opting for something that is heated to bits!
This Udon soup was entirely unpromissing, unfortunately... after dumping two packets of soy sauce it only barely started to arrive at 'flavour'. And I couldn't believe the amount of celery this delicate soup had! My least favorite vegetable, but I managed to down a few of the cut pieces. When I finally finished, it was a pleasure to get rid of the bowl.
The only redeeming quality of this restaurant was the feeling that I was sitting in Shanghai...I liked listening to the huge group of restaurant staff as the sat for their lunch right next to me.
I think the restaurant needs a namechange to reflect the atmosphere a little better. One thumb down, Maki.
