Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail

A moderate hike on Eastern Oahu with breath taking views and the near 100% chance you will see a Humpback Whale during the winter months. The hike is roughly 4 miles round trip and the trail is paved the whole way. There are a few steep inclines but well worth the effort. You can not to the actual lighthouse but the observation areas above the lighthouse offer better views anyway. I suggest you go in the early morning or later afternoon as there is little to no shade except at the top. Be sure to bring plenty of water but don't over drink as there are no restrooms. Parking is free but somewhat limited. The local police department will issue parking tickets (mine was $35.00) if not parked in a marked parking stall. Bring only what you will need for the hike as break-ins have been known to occur. Enjoy the hike!!!
