Best frites. No doubts. Best frites. Oct 05, 2011
N50°50'12.44" E4°22'53.30" Maison Antoine – frying since 1948 – is a classic little fritkot with the reputation of Brussels best. Frites are twice fried. First blanched at a low temperature and then, when ordered, fried again to crisp golden brown. Traditionally topped with a glob of mayonnaise, but other sauces are available. Such is the popularity of Maison Antoine frites that cafés on the surrounding square (including beautifully wrought-iron-fronted L’Autobus) allow frite eaters to sit and snack so long as they buy a drink. But the popularity comes with a price and on evenings long queues appear in front of Maison Antoine. Take you place in the queue because the reward is worthwhile, as you’ll notice sitting on a beautiful square enjoying Belgium beer with frites from Maison Antoine. Very recommended.
