The best darn French patisserie outside France!
Tucked away in the heart of Soho this is a tiny little place with a fabulous old Frenchman behind the counter. Its such a delight to see that even in London independent traders can still be successful and not overtaken by monster franchises.
The cakes are absolutely divine and its absolutely impossible to go and not have cake. I can't recommend anything in particular because they are all delicious and are all made on the premises.
The place is supremely simple with a table or 3 outside about the same inside on the ground floor and about 6 tables upstairs. Upstairs is where you want to be because downstairs is a little cramped. The decor is also very basic with a hint of French cafe influence.
This simplicity extends to the menu. Cake, coffee and tea. Thats it and thats all you could possibly need here.
Its the perfect little place to take your laptop (they have wireless) and spend a few hours over a few pots of tea and more cake than you really should.
The bevvy's are cheap enough but the cake is a little pricey at £5 per slice. Though they are big slices and every mouthful is worth gold.
If there is one place you go for coffee in Londonmake sure this is it.
