Maingau Hotel Frankfurt am Main Reviews
Small rooms with terrible soundproofing Jun 16, 2012
I stayed at this hotel in Frankfurt based on reviews from other prominent travel sites, that rated it as "good value". Because it is farther out from the city centre, the comparable rates are a bit lower.
The hotel is about 30 minutes via subway from the city centre, but the location is not really that bad, near a quiet park and residential area. There are several nice restaurants within 5-10 minutes walking distance, and the coffee shop beside the hotel is nice. The restaurant connected to the hotel is on the expensive side, but the food is pretty good if you're willing to splurge.
It is also close to the Frankfurt Sud train station, about 5-10 minute walk.
The problem with this hotel is that the rooms are extremely small, the bathrooms are cramped, and the walls are Not sound-proofed at all. I could hear complete conversations from people in all the rooms around me. They also charge for WiFi, while many hotels in Frankfurt do not.
I have quite a bit of experience staying at European hotels, and small rooms don't usually bother me, but this hotel took it to a whole new level.
I would recommend instead staying at a hotel in Frankfurt closer to the city center, with free WiFi.
