Main Street, Downtown Visalia - Visalia - TravBuddy

Most towns and cities tend to grow outwards and as they do the center of town becomes the worst part, filled with junk stores, discount junk stores, and cheap discount junk stores.
Not here in Visalia. The Downtown Business area here has gone to nice boutiques and restaurants. A few years back we restored the Fox Theater to its original grandeur.
Friday nights, especially during the spring, summer, and fall will find many people strolling before and after dinner at one of the casual or up-scale eateries along Main Street. In fact on most fridays there are musicians either strolling or set up in specific locations playing everything from smooth jazz to rock and roll oldies, to dixieland. And one Friday a month there is a venue set up where an invited band plays and vendors sell wine, beer, and food from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
It's a very special and different downtown!
