Maho Bay Camps Dec 03, 2010
I travled to the USVI in january 2010 with friends. We went to St John and stayed in Maho Bay camps looking for something diffrent and a little adventure.I LOVED Maho and hope to reurn. If you are looking to get away fom it all(and i mean ALL) you needa visit to Maho camps. These ECHO friendly camps consist of tents/cottages on a mountain side on top of the National Park in St John.It will surley be one the most beautiful places you ever go.The private bays and beaches are fantastic for diving and snorkeling.Talk about clear blue water. The c cottage/tents that sleep up to four. You must be pepared for the all the stairs it takes to get around this camp.It is on a huge hillside so to get to and from the beach, the restarants and bathrooms you must climb alot of stairs. Its a good work out!! This place is for outdoorsy types only who dont mind being one wih nature, the bugs and igunanas too!The food was average but there is a shuttle that takes you into town and to other camps or hotels to try diffrent food. The bathrooms are separate in a sharing house but has warm water. There are washing machines for clothes and bedding(must wash bedding, sand fleas!!)The staff very friendly and there is a great dive shop on location. You can also get snorkleing equipment for $35 a week.Great hiking trails along the coast to visit other cays for snorkeling, also some ancient ruins to hike to in the National Park.Overall so much to do!!A great place to experience! They are in danger of losing thier lease so go soon!!

Maho Bay Camp Saved for another year Jan 20, 2009
YOU MUST VISIT IF YOU LIKE TO GET AWAY FROM THE GRIND.....THEY DO NOT HAVE MUCH LONGER LEFT ON THEIR LEASE.....IT HAS BEEN EXTENDED ONCE.
I wanted to take the time to write this review because there are not much out there on Maho. It is Perfect and I have been to St. Johns many times before. I should have learned before WHEN FLYING into ST. THOMAS....do not check any bags. My mother, who worked for the airlines for 30 years, told me the same thing. They will bump your bag for Cargo.....enough about the airlines and back onto MAHO......DO NOT GO TO MAHO IF YOU.....
- HATE BUGS, you are staying in tents that are in the trees in a National Park....and you thought there would not be nature around you
- CAN NOT WALK STAIRS, there was 162 stairs from our tent to the beach and we were close, so if you can not walk stairs or are out of shape do not go.
- NEED SPA, ROOM SERVICE, MAID OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.....MAHO is for us that miss what we can not find in large cities, NATURE. there are bugs in the tents, there are birds in the trees in the morning, you have to wash your own thing if you wnat them Clean (I DO ADVISE TO WASH YOUR SHEETS - SEA/sand bugs will get you).
GO TO MAHO IF YOU....
- Love nature
- Love to dive or snorkel
- Will to meet and talk to people all over the world
- be away and unconnected from the rest of the world
what to bring!!!!!!!(PLEASE READ)
