Seeing animals of Asia Mar 17, 2013
Located in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom, the Maharajah Jungle Trek is a nice place to stroll, to see animals that are native to Asia.

This is a trail through the Anandapoor Royal Forest, where you get to see exotic animals like Komodo dragons, tigers, and bats, among others. And you see replicas of Indian ruins, including the ones that house the tigers.

There is also a bird sanctuary, which has a variety of colorful birds. Pick up a bird chart, not only to help identify the type of bird, but also have some fun to see how many types you have seen.

For anyone who likes animals, this is definitely worth the time, as you can go at your own pace. And get to see some animals that your local zoo may never have, like Komodo dragons (good enough reason for me to come).

Though, it can be disappointing if you want to see the tigers, and all you see them doing is sleeping. So it has been recommended to go early in the morning, or late afternoon, if you want to see them walking around.

The jungle trek is also a good way to kill some time, while waiting for your Fastpass time at either Kali River Rapids or Expedition Everest.

Shaded Animal Viewing Jun 17, 2009
Set amidst the ruins of a royal hunting lodge, this trail offers close-up views of a number of exotic Asian animals. Be sure to pick up a map at the entrance; while the path is a one-way circle (can't get lost), the maps offer additional information on the animals you will see including a scaly Komodo dragon, fat tapir, huge-horned cattle, leathery fruit bats, and majestic tigers. If bats make you squeamish, an outer path offers a safe detour. The tigers range over a sizeable habitat, so keep moving if you don't immediately notice the felines. Also, take the time to admire the architecture of the ancient lodge. Maharajah Jungle Trek is shaded but in the Florida heat offers an easy attraction to peruse while beginning to dry off from the nearby Kali River Rapids.
