Great for a post party meal! Jan 26, 2013
This was a great place and one of the few restaurants i ate at while in Austin for a weekend.

I was introduced to this little place as an after a night out spot, and it most certainly was. Filled with high spirited moderately drunken laughter.

Great energy, better food, and friendly staff.

i found it a great introduction to Tex-Mex food and as a cheese lover, the abundance of it on everything we ordered was much appreciated, and the servings are definitely island sized in my opinion.

I only visited the one on South Congress, but will definitely be going back to try the other one when I'm next in Austin.

Magnolia Cafe, Austin TX Oct 09, 2011
I would defiantly recommend this to anyone unfamiliar with Austin.

This is a local restaurant, so your not going to see a chain of these cafes

throughout the U.S. It's not to big, not to little and very "homey" I personally

always go to the one on South Congress, you'll get a good feel of the people

that live in Austin, the environment, even their clothing sense, which can be more

hipster than other places in the country. They have Tex-Mex, burgers, and Breakfast

all day 24/7. I usually go in the mornings/ early afternoon and a huge brunch. Breakfast

is the best, and Tex-Mex. I like their Migas for Breakfast. Also for any Vegetarians out there,

they have amazing Veggie Tacos and much more.

I just want to add as well, their employers are the best. They've been there a long time and bring great service. It's very unusual that you see someone new, which proves how close and dedicated everyone is in the restaurant .

There's Prices are cheap, the most is $8.50 for a meal, the cheapest is $2.50 It really just depends on what you order. I hope this gives you a little insight on this restaurant, and if anyone has anything to add feel free.

People watching at Magnolia Cafe Jul 06, 2011
We were in Austin for two days and went here twice! First time for lunch was the Flamingo sandwich with hummus. LARGE portions and very fresh ingredients. I especially noticed the full flavor of all the veggies. The service is also very attentive.

The second time was a late night breakfast-for-dinner moment after a Bob Schneider concert. Again, excellent food. I had the eggs zappatini. This is the time for people watching as various late-night bar shows are letting out and coming to the cafe for some filler. Coffee was not great and had been sitting for a while but otherwise, a great place to eat and be!

Odd diner Jul 16, 2011
This is one of the two famously weird diners in Austin (the other is Kerbey Lane). You'll find typical full-range diner meals from breakfast to burgers to lasagna, but with a twist. Everything is just a little.. odder than your normal diner. Black beans with your mexican food instead of refried beans, spinach lasagna, sweet potato french fries.

Recommendations: the 'mag mud' is awesome.
