Magic Springs Amusement Park Hot Springs Reviews
Magic Springs... Jul 12, 2008
Located about an hour from Little Rock, Arkansas, Magic Springs is Arkansas's only amusement park. A single price admission of 46USD includes all-day use of the rides and attractions at this park and the neighboring water park.. The amusement park features dozens of rides and attractions designed to appeal to every member of the family. But, of course, the thing I'm concerned with are the thrill rides. This park has six roller coasters but only three worth mentioning...the X-Coaster, Gauntlet and the wooden Arkansas Twister.
The X-coaster is an inverted coaster, but without shoulder restraints. This is only the second ride of its kind in the world and this one features the highest upside down inversion in the world.
It has a vertical ascent of 150 feet, at which point the car performs a thrillingly slow quarter-loop backwards, which has the riders hanging upside-down. Then the riders are sent on a 360-degree corkscrew roll, followed by a plummeting vertical drop at more than 65 miles an hour. It supposedly boasts Gs upwards to 5.
The Gauntlet has severl loops and inversions, but is not that fast.
The wooden coaster is pretty old and not too impressive, and not as comfortable as the steel coasters.
Overall, I give the thrill rides in this park slightly below average. The X-coaster is by far the best in Magic Springs and would probably rank in my top ten of all coasters.
