We stayed at the Scottish Inn in Maggie Valley, North Carolina while visiting local family for Christmas 1999.  We were treated to a little dusting of snow which made for a good picture or two.  This is definitely a small town with a population around 600, most of which is focused on the local tourism industry.  There are several small shops, panning for gems in the river and nearby hiking trails.  Maggie Valley is about 35 miles west of Asheville, NC (where the Biltmore E...

This is a struggling theme park on top of a hill. The rollercoaster still hasn't reopened, which was the main reason I went, and a few other rdes were also closed. This old west theme park actually lets ids run around with cap guns. Right after that zipped to Santa's Land but it was already closed.

Originally planned to go ski in West Virginia but changed location to much closer area in Maggie Valley, NC. It was between 8hrs long drive or 5 hrs drive
