A free bit of history in Cebu: Magellan's Cross Mar 02, 2013
I have been to this site a couple of times on visits to Cebu. Located near the Basilica Manore del Santo Nino on Magellanes Street in front of the city center. Housed in a small chapel, the cross was placed by Ferdinand Magellan's Portuguese and Spanish explorers upon arriving in the Philippines in April, 1521. The original cross is said to be encased in the current cross to keep it safe from weather and souvenir hunters. Some believing it contains miraculous powers.

You can burn a candle for a small fee or just take pictures. The painted ceiling is something to see. Highly recommended.
