Madura, an island located in East Java, Indonesia. You can reach madura from Surabaya by passing Suramadu (a new 5 kilometers bridge connecting Java island and Madura island) or taking ship from Tanjung Perak Harbour Surabaya.

Several famous cities in madura are Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan and Sumenep. The 1st city you’ll reach in Madura is Bangkalan. If you go to the East you’ll get Sampang (ap 70km), Pamekasan (ap 110km) and Sumenep (ap 160 km).

In this article, I interest to explore more about Duck as the main favorite food in Madura, because you’ll be easy to find Duck in any small or big restaurant in entire Madura. Maduranese living outside Madura also like to eat Duck, so if you visit “Maduranese area” in some cities in Indonesia, you’ll easily find Duck.

Here are some famous Duck restaurants in Madura:

Bebek Sanjay

If you reach Madura from Suramadu just go straight until you find final junction that give you 2 choices, turn right to Sampang or left to Bangkalan (main city). Turn left and it will take 8 km or ap 15 minutes driving to this place. This is famous Duck restaurant at Bangkalan.

Nasi Bebek Peterongan

It is Located at Gunung Telok, around 40 minutes driving in way to Sampang. The unique for this restaurant is about the seasoning, it give a dominant spicy taste. You will sweating a lot after finishing 1 plate of this duck, but don’t be surprised if you can easily find people order more portion to eat.

I interview the owner and he said in 1 day, there are 175 ducks be cut in a normal day and in special day like weekend, public holiday etc, it will sacrifice around 250-300 ducks a day. Huaaaaa I can’t believe that, but that’s the fact.

I suggest for your drink, you can order Hot tea, because it can help you to reduce “Cholesterol effect” after enjoying a huge portion of duck.

You just need to spend 15.000 rupiah for 1 portion of this fantastic spicy duck.

Depot Pandan Wangi

Depot is a local name for Restaurant. In this Depot, you’ll find a crunchy duck portion even you can eat the bone also. Completing your experience here, you should order Sayur Asem also and Es Soda Gembira as your drink.

The restaurant will give you small portion of Sambal (spicy ingredient), you should ask more, because you have to follow local people slogan “not spicy, not eat” mean that you should taste as spicy as you can. Feel your Sweat falling down.

This Depot located Trunojoyo Street 86th Pamekasan.
