I found old albums. Those photos fill me with nostalgia. My close friend and I joined a tour to Europe in Feb. 1986. That was the very first trip I went abroad.

So, I'm back home from my two week journey to the
motherland -Espana. I figure I should write down everything i can
remember about the trip so i can come back and read up on it at a later
time and remember the good times. So, here goes... The first day I got to Spain
I had a little trouble finding my way to Paul's apartment from the
airport, but I'm actually pleased with how well I did considering I was
in a completely different part of the world. Of course t...

Great moments with my friends Yulia and Yaelkis.
I really liked San Sebastian, and Cantabria is so beautiful, incredible cliffs, beaches and forest.

I just want to post some pictures of the New Year celebration in Madrid
The "Puerta del Sol" clock is the reference point for most of Spain to mark the arrival of the New Year. Only the Canary Islands have another time zone (1 Hour behind)
Tradition dictates you should eat 12 grapes in sync with the clock bell, to ensure good luck for the New Year.
Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, taken with my cell phone due to the amount of people in the Plaza

This will encompass my trip to Madrid, Spain. I'd been to Madrid the summer after my junior year of HS (back in '96) as part of a class trip, and this was my first time back (and on my own). I flew from Prague to London-Gatwick (where I bought Thunderbirds DVD...messing with the regions on my computer) and then to Madrid. Figuring out the Madrid metro was infinitely easier than Montreal, but it took me forever to get to my destination. I stayed at a hostel for two nig...

I returned to Madrid that evening and spent the rest of the week visiting other parts of the city and revisiting some of the same parts. I pretty much went to Plaza del Sol nearly everyday. On Tuesday my friend Scott, one of my fellow sustainability warriors at UC Davis, came to Madrid for a renewable energy conference. I spent the whole day making my way to meet him. I casually walked from Gilberto’s over to and down Calle Princesa, stopped to eat what turned out to be overpriced microwav...

I go down to breakfast by 9. It’s a magnificent spread but I don’t eat much. I get a taxi to catch the Madrid Vista Tourist bus, there are two circuits, one around historic Madrid and one route for new Madrid.
After my experiences with crowded tourist buses in New York, I want to catch the first bus, which goes at 9:30. I spend the morning riding the bus around historic Madrid. I had been told that Madrid wasn’t worth visiting, but I think it’s ...

On day 3 I really didn't have time to do anything, I had to catch a train back to Barcelona and then catch a night train to Lucerne, Switzerland. Although I did get to sleep in a little, I pretty much had to grab my things and head to the train station. Since it was a nice day, I decided to walk. When I got there, most all the Barcelona to Lucerne tickets were gone, so I had to pay a premium (some 60 euros) to get a nicer car in order to make it. In my mind, my time wa...
