Night in Madrid

We returned to Madrid after Granada, and had dinner at a nice place. We decided to go out but couldn't find a good place. We were so tired that we just went home and slept. Anticlimactic? Maybe. Relaxing? Yes. I was ready to leave the lifestyle of city-hopping to go to somewhere stable for a while. My batteries are drained.

My trip had a double purpose, as it seems all trips should in order to be economically affordable, as well as sensible. I worked during the week and traveled on the weekends. The following stories are my tales. The places are true, but every once in awhile I insert some fables to see if you're paying attention. Enjoy.

Madrid: unexpectedly nice

The only reason we'd go to Madrid was that it wasn't that expansive. We've already planned our holiday to Greece so our budget was tight. I bought a guide to Madrid, that's good prep work but it also gained my interest for Madrid! We were there for four days, but I thinks that's enough to see all the highlights. At day one we took it slow and just went for a walk. All of the sudden we've realised that we were walking through Plaza Mayor. A very crowded plaza. A lot of steet artist where doing...

Summary of my travels since starting to travel for work in 2004. Three continents and three jobs later, this blog is an ongoing work in process. All locations are entered through present, will be adding descriptions and pictures as I have the opportunity. Please let me know if you see an entry without info you would like me to upload pictures for and I can take care of adding that location's items sooner.

We decided not to stay in Madrid as our research indicated that it may not interest us as much as other places. But we did still have one night, so took in as much of the city as possible. Our first impression was fairly "grimey" as the street that our hostel was on, was lined with prostitutes!!! And Im talking at 4 in the afternoon!! We walked around the streets (the other streets), and did a little bit of window shopping...our only purchase was an impulse cleansing face mask!!! Af...

City Trips Begun!

Hi, first entry....Like it says in my profile, i've decided to take my gap year around Europe - to me there's just as much culture to be found here as in the popular back packer places like thailand and south america - more even!  The other reason I've decided to do my gap year this way is because i didn't want to be on a plane for hours on end (nor paying high airfares!) - In Europe I can get everywhere by train and what is more is that it's flexible this way.  I have one of the E...
