I lived in spain for 6 months; Salamanca, Sevilla and Malaga. I followed Spanish classes also. I`ve seen the whole country, except Valencia. Every year I go back, once or twice. I`m in love with spain...the music, the food, the flamengo, the weather, the siesta en fiesta :-). I hate the bullfights though!

I returned to Madrid that evening and spent the rest of the week visiting other parts of the city and revisiting some of the same parts. I pretty much went to Plaza del Sol nearly everyday. On Tuesday my friend Scott, one of my fellow sustainability warriors at UC Davis, came to Madrid for a renew…

Madrid has some spectacular architecture. Not saying it's the best, but it's grand scale like Rome - Impressive. The city is being torn apart in many places, leaving it noisy, dusty and a bit demolished looking in parts. It's transforming I guess. Madrid has some bizarre aspects. Plaza Mayor has winnie, minnie, mickey & darth roaming around. Nearby, a man with no arms shakes a change can with his teeth. Homeless people are common. The Prado is a meadow, but don't overlook Thyssen-Bornemisza!

This will encompass my trip to Madrid, Spain. I'd been to Madrid the summer after my junior year of HS (back in '96) as part of a class trip, and this was my first time back (and on my own). I flew from Prague to London-Gatwick (where I bought Thunderbirds DVD...messing with the region…

liking the city too much. In general it
was a really big city with a palace and some art museums which I don’t really
appreciate. Since a number of other
exchange students had visited Madrid and said that it was better t…

Madrid feels more metropolitan and busy than Barcelona, in a good way. On the last night I listened to some live Flamenco music, and it was fantastic. The guitarists were amazing, and the dancers had intense looks on their faces while banging their powerful steps. At the end of each dance they …
