Affordable Accommodations in YellowStone National Park May 19, 2011
When planning the Yellowstone camping trip I was nervous on what to expect from the campsite, but as soon as we arrived all concerns vanished.

The Madison Campsite is a great choice for travelers visiting The awesome Yellowstone National Park on a budget and with a desire to be closer to nature. The campsite is located to near the Madison river, a perfect place to spot small buffalo herds and elk or to enjoy the valley view.

It was much cheaper to camp than stay at one of the popular lodges or cabins inside the park. Rates were about 22.50 per campsite per night. Each camp site can comfortably fit 6 people, depending on tent size. There are accommodations for RV that are up to 50 feet in length.

Each campsite came with a picnic table and a fire grate perfect for campfires and cooking. Though you can bring your own portable grill.

I highly recommend calling ahead and making reservation. It can be a popular place to set up camp. When calling make sure you know the size of your tent or RV. Reservations can be made through the Xanterra site. they handle most of the lodging, dinning and adventure activities in Yellowstone.

call 1-866-GEYSERLAND (439-7375) between 9-5 Mountain time.

The benefits of camping here are:

* Clean flush toilets and source of clean water for cooking and dishwashing and bear proof trash disposal, and recycling center.

* Close proximity to West Yellowstone (14 miles) and Old Faithful (16 miles) for dinning and fun.

* Easy to get to most of the Parks famous attractions such as the Geysers, hot springs and rivers.

* Dumpsite for RVs and generators can be used until 10 pm.

* soda machines and firewood for sale at the front office.

* I did notice handicap accessible bathrooms in the campsite.

The only con was no showers.. But you are allowed to go to Old Faithful and use their Pay showers. Just ask the people in the office for details.

One warning is that you need to follow all the rules regarding food and personal products because is it bear country and they have a great sense of smell! be sure to lock everything up in your car!

I plan to return to the park again and will definitely make my plans to stay here again.

for more information you can call the reservation office at 1-866-GEYSERLAND (439-7375)
