Only for those into the cult of celebrity Sep 26, 2009
I had never been to a Madame Tussauds before, but I had expected a somewhat solemn and series combination between an art gallery and a museum. The work they create can be so lifelike and realistic I had expected them to be featured like artistic masterpieces.

Far from it, I found Madame Tussauds clearly on the chessy side. The statues were there to be mocked, hugged and most of all photographed with. At times it was downright toilet humour. Considering how expensive the place is (18 euros each) this place is only worth it if you are into the cult of celebrity and want a faked photo of yourself in bed with a celebrity of your choice.

Madame Tussaud Amsterdam Jan 07, 2009
It was nice to visit Madame Tussaud in Amsterdam, but it was great to meet Jack Sparrow there!

Also it was really fun to meet Brad Pitt, Bono, Angelina Jolie, Tiësto, Jennifer Lopez. and more celebrities.

Every time there are renewed figures to see, like James Bond or Spiderman to protect you.

It's in the heart of Amsterdam, in a walking distance from the train station.

It's not cheap, but when you search for coupons on internet you pay less.

I’ve really enjoyed this museum, but I don't want to see it again, for the price I paid for.

I also hate the long queue for this museum.

When you are in Amsterdam, you have to see it once in your life.

Madame Tussauds- Huge expectations and disappointment Mar 16, 2008
I didn't manage to go to Madame Tussauds, when I was in London, but I remembered Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam from my childhood.

So I went there, and the entry fee were a hefty 20 Euro. So I thought, wow, this must be so special, since all other Museums cost a 10 Euro max. Then I made a picture with Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean. And then I went into the elevator.

Getting out of it, I was welcomed by a dutch giant, briefing the history of the golden age. Its pretty neat, and they guide you with light and sound through all the stations. So next up was a bit of Amsterdam in 1600. And then a huge roll, where all of Amsterdam and bits of the surrounding Area were displayed.

I thought alright and went on, only to get the fright of my life. I won't tell what expects you, only that the pirate won't let you pass if you are pregnant and that I was never so scared in my life.

Getting out of the horror, there were quite a number of celebrities, political and from the entertainment industry, all well displayed and with good possibilities to get photographed with them. Funny to find out, how tall or small they all really are.

They did not look all that real, though. And for my tastes there weren't enough statues (still fretting about the 20 Euros).

Getting the picture with Jack Sparrow costs another 8! Euros.

But, at least I have a picture of me with George Clooney now.

Overall, I dare say, if you can spare the cash it makes for a nice walk, and you'll love the scary part, if you are so inclined. I went in right after it opened, because there were always throngs of people later on.

P.S.: When I researched for this review, I discovered that you can get a 2.50 discount vouch when you click on "visitor information".

The Madame Tussaud's concept is very famous ofcourse with locations in Hong Kong, New York, Las Vegas, London and Shanghai. In the heart of Amsterdam you'll find the Dutch location of Madame Tussaud's. Madame Tussaud's is a museum where celebrities from every industry (Sports, Movies, Music, Tv etc..)are displayed, duplicated in the form of wax, life-size dolls. At Madame Tussaud's Amsterdam you will find international celebrities that everybody knows, but also some Dutch celebrities. It's a very big tourist attraction and I personally don't think it's a must see attraction but it's just fun to go there if you're in the area.
