For the 2 nights that my group stayed there, we didn't see too many other people there. There are tourists, but not always jam packed. The restaurant hence gives you cool personalized treatment with a smile. Good people.

The Hotel building itself is a bit old, made of American materials, evident from the flooring, walls, bathroom fittings, etc very unlike Saudi. I'm not very fussy about hotels, as long as its clean, has comfortable beds and has a good hot shower. The manager is friendly and knows quite a bit about the region and can help arrange trips for tourists, including police escorts in case you feel necessary. People are friendly, reasonable and we had a great time.

The (small) town of Al-Ula has a rustic charm, date palm groves nestled between mountains and canyons - probably looking like it used to since millenia. There is apparently a lot of ground water. Don't worry about ATMs and banks - they are all connected via VISA network.
