Macquarie Light Sydney Reviews
The oldest lighthouse in Australia Oct 18, 2009
The Macquarie Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse of Australia as it had been built first in 1818, then replicated stronger in 1883. I read it is also the best-known.
It is 26 meters high, elevated at 105 metres above the sea level.
It is closed but visits are allowed as I read that tours are organized every second months, by booking only.
I did not visit it, I saw it from the Ocean during an outing to watch whales. As it can be seen from many parts of Sydney, I guess the view from there is also great...
It is located 3km south from the entrance of Sydney Harbour, in Dunbar Head (Vaucluse), after Hornby Lighthouse.
