The city of Macomb, IL. is located in the western part of the great state of IL. It is 150 miles North of St. Louis, Mo. and 50 miles west of Peoria, IL. The current population is estimated at 20,000. It is the county seat of McDonough County and home to Western Illinois University (WIU).
The city first saw european settlers in 1829 and the city was established in 1831. The name of the city was chosen to honor General Alexander Macomb, a hero of the War of 1812.
