Beyond its casinos, Macau is a Chinese Special Administrative Region, formerly a Portuguese colony, and the street decorations are influenced by the Portuguese. The town is cute , colorful, and an interesting blend of the East and West. Portuguese cuisine and wines are common, and this is difficult to find in Asia.

For the adventurous, there are nice hiking trails, and the weather is generally cool between September to March for hikes. Some cool golf courses are available too.

For the food lovers, there are plenty of choices all around here. You can find a wide range of different cuisines: from the very local Macanese or traditional Portuguese, French & Italian from the west, Thai & Japanese from the Oriental. You can get wat you like whichever you name it.

Last but not the least, you simply cannot miss the Macau Pork Chop Bun & the authentic Portuguese egg tarts. You'll then discover its marvelous taste and understand how people addicted to visit Macau. Not because of Gambling, but for all the delicious foods.

There are some hotel resort newly opened recently in 2007. The MGM Grand Macau opened on 2007.1218 and looks promising as tough competition for the Venetian.
