So...Macau is like Vegas in the fact that it's got a couple world class casinos.  You've got your Venetian, MGM Grand, and even a Wynn.  You've got bars, gambling, and plenty of ATMs.  It's just missing something and you can't quite put your finger on it...!  And then you realize that the nice restaurants are empty, there are no Clubs with banging music piping throughout the casinos <cue Twilight Zone music...do do do...do> It's starts to dawn on you...this is what...

already my last full day in hong kong today! i could move my flight at last... funny story: i called cathay pacific hong kong to move my flight and they told me that it would cost me 300hkd. so i called the australian office again and they moved it for free... hehe surfer dudes once again not up to date with the policies of the rest of the world so the title already spoils the great surprise of what i did today: i went to macau! why did i do that? because of the great sights there...

2-day trip to Macau

For the weekend we decided to take a trip over to Macau, another SAR region an hours ferry ride away from HK. Macau had become infamous for its gambling establishments over the years and is now very much the vegas of the East. It is the only place in China were it is possible and legal to gamble. So the night before my bday (at about 7pm) my dad and I had the great idea of heading to Macau to gamble and party all night. I can't believe my dad was able to do it! Good job dad! I guess I now know where I get it from haha. Luckily, the gambling treated both of us very well :)

I visit Macau twice as I had to take my flights to and from the Philippines. I found it to be a intresting place, much more chines then H.K but with some very intresting history as a Portuguese colony until about 10 years ago. It's make a mixture much more colorful then I expected, architecture, flavors and smells. On my way to the Philippines I only got to spend 24 hours here, but I did got to walk in the St's, drink some coffee and not tea, and I can tell...

An awesome view of Southeast Asia. I flew around the world. On the outbund flight, I flew transatlantic from Newark to Hong Kong and on the inbound flight I flew transpacific. From Hong Kong, I crossed the border and headed to Shenzhen, China for some shooping. I also visited the SAR of Macau with it's booming Casino's and the famous Macau Tower.
