MacArthur Park is 8km south of Tacloban at Red Beach, Candahug, Palo, Leyte. This is where General Douglas MacArthur landed along with the American liberation forces in 1944 He led the allied attack on the Japanese forces who conquered the Philippines after the Spanish regime. It was also in this occasion that the General left with his famous line – “I Shall Return” when he has to leave the country at the height of Japanes attack in the Philippines.
