MARVELOUS MAYHEM IN MAASTRICHT
Saturday evening, at the Amsterdam TravBuddy Meetup, I was fortunate to sit at the same table with Sanne (sannekoek) and Raphke (Raphje) at Humphrey's. During our dinner, I asked the gals if they would be willing to show a crazy American around their hometown of Maastricht if I took a train there the next day.
They graciously volunteered to give me a Sunday tour of Maastricht. Little did I know how mar...

What shall I tell you? I don't like to write because I can't express myself good enough in English or Dutch. And besides that I don't like to make some people jealous with my stories about the meeting how great, fun, tremendous, enormous, fabulous et cetera it was. Maybe you can view the pictures of my 'blog' and ofcourse don't forget to read and view the other 'blogs' from the people who join this great event...
I want to thank all the TBs who joined Lauros Meetup.

One of the few places that I still really wanted to go to in the Netherlands was Maastricht, a small city tucked a very long way away near France and Germany and even further away than Belgium. But I hadn't got around to it yet, until my friend from work, Leti, offered to show me round, and even pointed out I could save money by getting a discounted all day ticket from the Blokker store in town. Hooray! After a remarkably smooth trip to the station, we met up and got on the ...

I'm now halfway through my third year in Europe and things are constantly still amazing and exciting me. I see that the focus of my travelling has changed and I've grown alot since I first set out. Here's a few things I've been up to recently.

Vakantie in eigen land blijft leuk. Leuk hotel, aardige mensen blabla...

Exciting traveling around NL with car and tent! There are so much more things beyond too touristic Amsterdam and regular travelers spots to discover in there. I loved it! (ahh..still need to edit and add photos)

Started off the day with a quick stop by Achelse Kluis (see earlier journal entry) and then went down to Maastricht to see some of the sights I had seen on the bus tour in the snow in February. Walked through the university area, past some of the old Roman ruins and along the city walls by the river. Brief stop by Valkenburg on the way home...but alas, once again, too late to go into the castle ruins!
