I rarely write reviews for hostels, but I have to say- by far- this is the best hostel I have ever stayed in. From the free pick-up at the airport to the welcome drink/cookies on arrival at the hostel, to the clean and charming room to the free tea/cookies outside my door every evening- the staff here spared no expense in hospitality.

The small things are really important- and the staff here made sure to take care of the small things. Make sure to take advantage of their inexpensive tours as well. I went to Merapi Volcano, Monkey Forest (great! Hand fed monkeys!), Bobudor (world UNESCO temple), Prambanan (another world UNESCO temple), Bantul (great local handicraft village), Kraton (Sultan Palace/water castle site), Marlioboro street (think crowded, unique and cheap shopping- I did all my christmas shopping there!) and many more.

Robert and his staff were also constantly on hand to offer advice on local quality restaurants and ensure that anything I might need was taken care of. I could not ask for more.

The drivers Ade and Tomas were also wonderful. They have very unique and quite different backgrounds. Be nice and they just might tell you their very interesting personal stories. They made the drives to the sites both pleasurable and informative.

The only- and I say 'only'- downside of my trip was perhaps the location of the hostel. It is a couple kilometers from the center...but even then the drivers are always on hand to drop you off places and there are still convenience stores within walking distance. So even this minor complaint really isn't much- just something worth considering. (Although if you like running, it is a great area to run without being bothered or having to deal with any crowds.)

Sunsets and sunrises are absolutely beautiful here.

Actually this hostel was SO lovely, that I am even going to be returning in a couple of months! I recommend Garden B&B with the highest of compliments.

Cheers,
Ami

When staying @ Yogyakarta, This definitely is THE PLACE to stay! The Bali style designed house is operated by a Dutch/Indonesian couple. It has the facilities of an average hotel, the backpackers' attitude and is unlike most hostels very clean. Furthermore it's decorated stylishly and a great place to meet fellow-travellers. Situated in a quiet part of town, yet not to far away from the Malioboro action makes it a perfect location. Besides they serve an amazing breakfast! They serve wake-up coffee, afternoon tea and the owner Robert runs the B&B with charm and passion. He takes care of every single guest, gives you detailed information on what to do in Yogya & around, and sometimes even lets you join in on dinner.
The spacious Bali-style decorate
