M Deli - the only thing in Maldon that is worth going there for now the amazing book shop closed Apr 05, 2008
M Deli is in Maldon, down a side street, and has the following distinctions

- the only place in Maldon you can get deli quality posh food

- the only place in Essex I have ever seen Membrillo (quince jelly)

- the only place in Maldon with interesting sandwiches

- some of the best coffee I have had in the UK

Which is weird, because it is down a side street in one of the sleepiest towns in Essex, which is going some. A town that has two claims to fame - some old sailing ships are moored there - and it's where Maldon Sea Salt comes from.

If you are ever marooned in Essex, then Maldon is probably the only place you will find nice deli food and coffee. The staff are friendly and nice (and pretty, lads, not that I'm much of a judge!), the seats are comfy, and there are usually cheese samples.

I'd recommend it highly, but I can't think why you'd ever be in Maldon...

Oh, definately go next time. Continental coffee further up the high street is actually quite nice too. But only if in Feering anyway!

One reason to be in Maldon might conceivably be that you're visiting your sister-in-law at Feering and really really want to look at some water. The alternative is Mersea Island ...
I wish I'd known about M Deli, though!
