Love the Luxe Hotel! Aug 21, 2008

I’ll start off by saying that just walking into the hotel I knew I would love it. Totally chic and the staff were friendly all the way from the front door to the room service. The décor is great and beds were very comfortable. The spa….amazing! Had a wonderful massage followed up with a great dinner on sunset Blvd that evening. Luxe Hotel had a great intimate feeling but big city vibe. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to get the full LA experience or for just a quick little get away

I was quite impressed by this four-star hotel in the heart of LA. The deluxe room was huge! I could probably do 3 cartwheels across it if I tried. It was tastefully designed with soothing colors and modern, chic furniture. (Though I was confused with the 7 foot long cylindrical pillow (I think?) resting against the wall, which I assumed was a gigantic body pillow..?) In general, it was a completely relaxing resting place.

The hotel sits on seven acres of greenery, a rarity in Los Angeles. It was nice to open the curtain and see a window full of trees, rather than a parking lot or the wall of another building.

As Eric mentioned, it's very close to the Getty Museum, and its central location makes it convenient whether you want to go west to Santa Monica or east to Hollywood.

Stayed at this hotel for one night for a mini-vacation away from "home." Trendier than most places I have been, but the service was very friendly and, even though it was "cool", it wasn't one of those places that was "too cool".

We got a deluxe room with a balcony, which overlooks a small hill with trees. The long balcony combined with thin white curtains and trees in the background, created a very tranquil effect in the morning light. Felt like I was in a Zen garden. The room was also bigger than I was expecting, and included a small "nook" with a coffee table and kitchenette.

Overall, very good stay, and would go there again, but some minor complaints:

- I'm not a rocket scientist, but the shower button seemed difficult to figure out. Make sure to pull the knob to activate the shower, instead of pushing it repeatedly with a puzzled expression on your face.

- The lighting in the room is a bit too harsh. All of the bulbs are a bit too bright, which is a shame considering the quality of the natural lighting. They need a softer, warmer room light. The lighting in the bathroom was also kind of odd. There is no light above the shower, so when you close the curtains you feel like you are in a cave.

- Room doors slam too loudly. You can hear the doors slamming in the halls. We were at the end of one of the halls, which was probably less trafficked, so I can imagine it might be a big problem if you were elsewhere.

- Parking is $22!!! What?

Pros:

- Location is ideal for a visitor. On a less crowded area of Sunset Blvd (but still not too far from the action), and also only a few minutes away from the Getty.
