Holly and Simon were already stir-crazy. We had been in Luray for exactly 2 hours and they were climbing the walls so I decided, if they’re going to act like monkeys I’ll make them hang with like minds. I took them to the Luray Zoo. The Luray Zoo is a small rescue zoo which offers safe haven for many former exotic pets. They have a HUGE collection of reptiles, lemurs, condors, porcupines, a tiger and more. We got there rather late in the day and just made it to the 3:30 snake show. Yipes!...

Hi All, Dave and I wanted to have you share in our trip this year as we travel. As I am new to this I have a feeling that there will be a learning curve.   Just less than 2 hours away from Washington DC, under the earth, lies the Luray Caverns.  Today, after breakfast, we'll drive here and arrive before noon.  The caverns were discovered in 1878, just one day before your birthday - August 13th.  Have you ever been in a cave?  It's really an amazing thing to do.  The temperature in caves never change - this one is always 54 degrees F., which is 12 degrees C.
